This Privacy Policy explains how Rasit Erol ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the CulturEnglish mobile application (the "App"), available on Google Play and the Apple App Store under the package identifier com.culturel.english.
CulturEnglish is an English-language learning application for a general, worldwide audience. By creating an account or otherwise using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the App.
1. Who we are (Data Controller)
For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, the data controller responsible for your personal data is:

2. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to operate the App, run your account and learning progress, and process purchases. We do not sell your personal data.
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information. When you register an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, a display name. You may also use the App as an anonymous guest without providing an email; in that case we do not have your email until you choose to upgrade to a registered account.
- Profile details. An optional profile photo / avatar.
- Communications. If you contact us for support, we keep the content of your message and your contact details.
2.2 Information created through your use of the App
We store learning and account data that is generated as you use the App, including:
- Learning progress: experience points (XP), level, daily streak, total readings completed, completed reading levels by date, earned badges, and daily "spin wheel" results.
- In-app currency balances: your Gold balance (earned through learning) and your Diamond balance (obtained only through real-money purchase).
- Activity timestamps: last login date, last reading date, last spin date, and account creation date.
- Social features (optional): your friends list and incoming/outgoing friend requests, processed only if you use the friends feature.
2.3 Purchase information
- Subscription status and purchase history for Diamond purchases (product identifier, amount, and purchase time).
- Purchase reconciliation tokens — kept so a re-delivered or reconciled purchase is never credited twice.
Important: All real-money payments are processed by Google Play Billing (Android) and the Apple App Store (iOS). We do not receive or store your full payment-card number, bank details, or billing address.
2.4 Technical and diagnostic information
- Device and connection data necessary to deliver the service through our backend provider (handled by Firebase).
- We do not show advertisements in the App and do not use advertising or cross-app tracking identifiers to serve ads.
3. How we use your information
- create and maintain your account (including anonymous guest sessions and account upgrade);
- save and synchronize your learning progress, streaks, badges, and currency balances;
- deliver learning content, including downloadable content such as story books;
- process and verify in-app purchases and your subscription status, and prevent double-crediting;
- operate optional social features (friends and friend requests);
- provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- maintain the security and integrity of the App and prevent fraud or abuse;
- comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases for processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Performance of a contract — to provide the App, your account, learning progress, and purchases.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the App secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve our service.
- Consent — where required; you may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law, including tax and consumer-protection requirements.
5. How your information is stored and processed (service providers)
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage) — stores your account, profile, learning progress, currency balances, social data, and purchase records, and delivers downloadable learning content.
- Google Play Billing (Android) and the Apple App Store (iOS) — process real-money payments.
6. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising. We disclose information only:
- to the service providers listed in Section 5, strictly to operate the App;
- to other users, limited to information inherent in social features you choose to use;
- when required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
- to protect rights and safety — to enforce our Terms, prevent fraud, or address security issues;
- in connection with a business transfer, subject to this Privacy Policy.
7. Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep certain information to complete and reconcile transactions, comply with legal requirements, or resolve disputes and prevent fraud.
8. International data transfers
Our service providers (including Google/Firebase) may process and store data in countries other than your own, including the United States, relying on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's privacy
CulturEnglish is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the age of digital consent in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at rasiterol386@gmail.com and we will delete it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at rasiterol386@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to correct it. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. 12. Account deletion
You can delete your account and associated personal data at any time directly inside the App, under Profile > Delete Account. You can also request deletion by emailing rasiterol386@gmail.com.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
